Year 5 - Roman Day
17th November 2016
On Thursday 17th November, Year 5 welcomed Steve Manning in to school for a spectacular Roman Day.
We learnt about Roman Empire and what it was like to be part of a Roman legionary. We learnt the names for some of the armour and weapons in Latin that Steve brought with him. He shared with us a story about what it was like to grow up as a Roman soldier. We practised marching in formation with our shields and we heard the myth of Romulus and Remus. In the afternoon, we learnt about Ancient Greece and how their armies and armour were different. Then Steve told us a myth called The Odyssey, in which we heard about Odysseus and the challenges that he met in the ten years he spent travelling home from Troy.
