Year 6 Residential October 2016
6th November 2015
We are pleased to inform you that we have provisionally booked our Residential Visit to Bude from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th October 2016 and have places available for all our current Year 5 children.
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with some details of the planned Residential, giving you enough notice to start planning your payments, if your child is interested in attending. We would also like to ask you to send in a non-refundable deposit if your child would like to take part.
Why take children on a Residential?
The purpose of the residential trip is to provide children with experiences that will increase their confidence, help develop a new level of independence and give them an education beyond the classroom.
Where are we going?
The Outdoor Adventure Centre fulfils all County Council Health and Safety requirements and is licensed by AALA (Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority). In addition they chose also to become approved by the major sport governing bodies, The BCU (British Canoe Union), BSA (British Surfing Association), RYA (Royal Yachting Association). We also hold the John Muir Environmental Award and Investors in People.
What will the children do?
The children will have opportunities to experience a range of outdoor and adventurous activities, which will encourage them to work together and challenge themselves, both physically and mentally. These activities are led by fully trained and experienced instructors from the Centre and the children will be supported by school staff from Gatehouse.
Parents Information Meeting
We will be holding a Parents’ Information Meeting on Monday 23rd November at 3.30pm in Indonesia class and this will give you the opportunity to learn a little more about the activities the children will be undertaking, the venue they will be staying at and any other questions you may have.
How much will it cost?
The maximum cost is £320.00 based on approximately 50 pupils going, which includes transport to and from the centre, accommodation, all meals, hire of equipment and tuition from Centre staff. Once we have received the final numbers we will be able to adjust this accordingly and let you know. There is no cost to parents for the Gatehouse staff who accompany the children.
If you would like your child to go on the trip, please return the slip together with a deposit of £50 by Monday 30th November 2015. See over for details of the payment plan.
This deposit is non-refundable under the terms and conditions of Outdoor Adventure Ltd. www.outdooradventure.co.uk
We suggest a payment plan of monthly payments (December, January, February, March, April, May, June, July, September) for 9 months of £30.00 per month. You are of course, welcome to make payments as often as you like or can make a payment in one lump sum if that is preferable. Any time prior to the trip payments can be made to the school office by cash or cheque or you can pay online via the school gateway. All cash payments must be brought in by an adult and a receipt will be given. Unless full payment is received prior to the trip, your child will be unable to attend.
We would like it if all the children could attend, as this is a wonderful opportunity for them to experience a variety of activities they may not have before and also to work together with their school friends and staff. Therefore, if you foresee any problems with the payments for this visit, please do come and see Mrs Turner or myself.
