Welcome to Gatehouse Primary School
We are very keen to have family volunteers in school. If you have a little time to spare please call the school office and ask to speak to Mrs Ashley Leeson.
Parents tell us that we are a calm, relaxed, hard-working and welcoming school. They feel we provide all children with a safe, secure and warm environment for learning. Our whole school staff is dedicated and hard-working and we are very well supported by an active School Association and Governing body.
The school can take up to 60 children in each year group, these will be organised in SINGLE AGE CLASSES across the school, from September 2011. Each year parents of children who are due to start school for the first time apply to the Local Authority for a place at the school. Applications can be made at www.devon.gov.uk/admissionsonline for all new pupils.
Choosing your child’s school is a big decision for you as parents and can be quite daunting. We regularly show parents around the school during the day, to give them a better understanding of how the school works. If you would like to arrange a visit please contact the school office, where a member of staff will make an appointment for the Headteacher or her Deputy to show you around. This will enable you to see our children and staff working, provide time to discuss any questions you may have and give you all the information you need in deciding if this is the right school for you and your child.
We have invested heavily in new technologies to enhance learning and benefit from having extensive grounds, which have been well developed to provide great play and learning spaces. The school council is currently engaged in planning for the installation of further outdoor play equipment for use during break times, while the staff and Governors are planning to upgrade the buildings further, to provide learning spaces more suitable for today’s curriculum.

The curriculum is rich and varied with many opportunities to extend learning through educational visits, enrichment clubs and residential experiences. We work closely with children and their families to try and make their time spent at Gatehouse challenging, memorable and most importantly, fun.
