  • Active Citizenship Award Scheme

    Wed 14 Oct 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to update you on our plans to support our pupils with Citizenship this year.

Across the school, we aim to celebrate as many extra curricular and citizenship-focused activities that children complete; and for the last three years we have worked with the Children's University team in Plymouth to achieve this.

This year, we have reviewed the 'offer' from this programme, and we have decided to press pause on using the scheme for now. This is mostly due to the fact that the children would struggle to achieve the awards because of the restrictions of the current pandemic of Covid 19 with their inability to complete many clubs safely.

We do however, still want to celebrate the children's efforts and promote citizenship in our school community; we have found an alternative programme for pupils to follow.

The programme is called the Active Citizenship Award Scheme. This programme is more achievable in light of our current situation and is something they can achieve with school's help, rather than just parental support. Further details of this programme will come later in the month, once staff have attended some training to run the programme successfully.

Please kindly advise your child/ren that Children's University has ended for now, but a new, super exciting scheme will be up and running very soon!

If you require us to update old passports or if your child/ren require any certificates or badges to finalise their Children's University days, then please let the office know and they will be happy to help.

Lastly, I would like to thank all the parents, carers, pupils and staff who have previously supported Children's University; and hope that you are all looking forward to the next challenge of the Active Citizenship Award Scheme instead.

    Kindest regards,

    Mrs Jenny Deacon
