Things to Do in Dawlish
If you’re looking for a great coastal town for a traditional seaside holiday then Dawlish is the answer. With sandy beaches, family attractions, amusements, walks, cycle routes, mini golf and relaxing gardens there’s lots to see and plenty of things to do in Dawlish and Dawlish Warren.
The traditional seaside town of Dawlish, with its early Victorian and classic Regency style, has long be a popular holiday and day trip destination. Whether you’re visiting with friends or family or fancy a trip away with a loved one Dawlish has an exciting mix of attractions, places to eat and drink and things to do both in town and nearby.
Its location close to other seaside resorts, the River Exe, the city of Exeter and wonderful countryside makes it not only perfect for a great beach break but for enjoying everything else this incredible region has to offer.
While in Dawlish don’t forget to visit the Town Brook and see if you can spot the famous Black Swans, they can often be seen swimming in the gentle stream or nesting on the banks.
For help and advice when visiting the town pop by the Tourist Information Centre, located in the centre of town on The Lawn, the friendly staff are happy to offer advice and information on any aspect of your holiday.
To the North East of Dawlish is the seaside resort of Dawlish Warren with its long blue flag beach, sand dunes, amusements and nature reserve. Dawlish Warren can be reached by road, train or by walking along the South West Coast Path. The coastal path hugs the red cliffs as it follows the train line along the coast, providing fantastic views out to sea as you walk between the two resorts.

About the Inspire Cafe
After the Centre’s revamp in 2013 the Inspire Cafe was opened as the key way in which the Strand Community Trust can deliver its vision of providing Dawlish and district with a welcoming environment in the town centre for all who pass its door. With help from United Christian Action in Dawlish and District (UCADD) and the Strand Community Trust (SCT), Inspire is run by the ongoing efforts of its dedicated volunteers and cafe manager Adam Gidney.
At the cafe we pride ourselves on offering healthy, homemade food, Fair Trade tea and coffee and freshly baked cakes at a great price. We also strongly believe in offering social and spiritual support within the community, and we have volunteers who give their time for others.
Menus are seasonal and produce is sourced within Dawlish and the surrounding area. Food is prepared daily, and if we can accommodate your dietary needs we will.
We also proudly support the Suspended Coffee programme wherein people can give to the suspended pot, allowing those who may be struggling financially to enjoy a free hot drink.
The cafe is open from 10.00am until 2.00pm, Tuesday - Friday. For afternoon group bookings the cafe can be made available on request.

Chairman’s thank you nominations - Teignbridge District Council
Now that COVID restrictions have been lifted we would like to acknowledge the outstanding work that the voluntary and charitable sector have done to support communities and vulnerable individuals throughout the past 18 months.
Teignbridge District Council have acknowledged the outstanding work that the voluntary and charitable sector do, particularly but not exclusively to support residents during the Coronavirus pandemic. The Council recognises that many organisations and individuals make a fantastic contribution in their local communities and during the pandemic many amazing people came forward to volunteer their time to support the response. Of course, the Council acknowledges and doesn’t want to forget all those people who were already involved in delivering voluntary and community sector support before the pandemic or those unable to carry out their usual roles because activities stopped, or they had to protect themselves or loved ones.
The Council had hoped to be able to host a Thank You event but given the current situation feel that offering the sector the opportunity to recommend people from within their organisations for a letter of thanks from Chairman of the Council is a way of expressing their gratitude.
If you would like to nominate someone from your local community, please apply via this link Chairman’s thank you nominations - Teignbridge District Council

Dear all the staff and pupils at Gatehouse Primary Academy, Please accept this letter as a heart-felt thank you for the kindness, commitment and generosity shown by Gatehouse Primary Academy in sharing some festive joy with our seafarers working on board this Christmas season. I understand how much time, effort and thought went in to making this happen for our seafarers, which is hugely appreciated, the generosity of the local community has really touched those currently on board. The cards, letters, kind thoughts and well wishes have certainly added some extra sparkle to the spirit currently on board, whilst our crew are eagerly awaiting the return of our guests and of course getting back to delivering special holiday moments, for now they will enjoy the festive season with all the trimmings, usual celebrations and of course your kind donations. So once again a huge thank you to each and every one of you for this lovely gesture. Wishing you all the very best for a prosperous 2021 and a Merry Christmas!
Best wishes on behalf of myself and all of our ship’s company, Daniel Yeates Fleet
