First Federation Trust
Welcome to Gatehouse Primary Academy. We are a large, coastal primary school which became part of the ‘First Federation Trust’ on 1st July 2017. Our school is situated on the edge of the town, overlooking fields, with the beach and the sea just 500 metres away.
The First Federation is a Multi-Academy Trust of primary schools across Devon and Dorset. To see other schools that are in the Trust, please look at the First Federation Trust website.
We currently have 315 children on roll, split into 11 classes. We aim to provide a caring, safe and stimulating environment for all children to learn. Each child is supported and encouraged to do their best and take part in a wide range of opportunities and experiences building happy memories of their school days. We promote our children to aspire, flourish and achieve through our character qualities of resilience, awe and wonder and striving for accuracy (see Vision and Values).
Our talented, committed and experienced team of educators enjoy their work and the learning environment makes learning fun and raises standards.
We are also fortunate to have an enviable amount of outside space which includes a large dedicated outdoor area for EYFS, multiple playground areas, a wildlife and pond area, our own growing garden for the children and a large forest school set in beautiful woodland.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection report was published in January 2022, where we were assessed to be 'Good' in all categories.
