GH Careers

At Gatehouse we understand the importance of children being aware of the future career choices that they have through broadening their horizons, challenging stereotypes and giving them the opportunity to make connections between their learning and their future. 

Through talking about careers at an early age we will help children develop the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to make successful choices and manage transitions in learning and work.

We want all of our children to thrive so that they become motivated, confident, and flexible as individuals. 

Career discussions are planned for as part of the curriculum allowing children to consider what skills and knowledge they might need for future roles e.g in science, the children are aware they need knowledge of the circulatory system if they want to become a doctor.

We have previously invited parents into school to share with the children their job roles and  the skills and knowledge that they need in order to be successful. In the future we plan to have a Careers Fair in school specifically aimed at motivating and inspiring primary age children. 

In the photograph below, school staff have completed a display, that became 'the talk of the school' where the children could see what different staff members across the school had studied in education and the previous jobs that they have had!
