All children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 receive Universal Free School Meals. Every child in these year groups is encouraged to try something on the menu, however if you would prefer that your child is not offered the sample menu, please let the office know. You are welcome to also supply your child with a packed lunch, and they can try the menu and still have their packed lunch.

The office team will be available in EYFS to help new parents with the application at the start and end of the day on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th October. During the pandemic, the Government launched the Free school meals holiday voucher scheme. This is a way of providing funds to ensure families of children who are eligible for free school meals during term time are able to purchase food over the holidays to replace the meals a child would have received during a school day. Holiday Activity and Food Programme (HAF)

The HAF came about because of Marcus Rashford’s campaign Marcus Rashford: Food voucher campaign changed government policy - CBBC Newsround. Marcus Rashford wanted the Government to provide all children with access to a food voucher, food box or a hot meal every day of the school holidays. The HAF Programme is funded by the Department for Education and children who are eligible for benefit related Free School Meals (FSM) are given the opportunity to access rewarding activities alongside healthy meals during school holidays, offering valuable support to families on lower incomes.

In response to this programme, Devon Early Years and Childcare Service (DEYCS) delivered an extensive summer programme which was very successful and are now planning the Christmas programme.
