  • Free School Meals - are you eligible?

    Fri 01 Oct 2021

All children in EYFS, Year 1 and Year 2 receive Universal Free School Meals, however you may also be eligible for Free School Meals. • Reminders

    Fri 10 Sep 2021

    Dear parents and carers,

We've all had a fantastic first week of the Autumn Term, and have all enjoyed seeing all the children back in school. Welcome also to all of the new children who have started with us this week, we hope you've all had a brilliant week!

We would just like to remind all families of a couple of points. Firstly, only parents of children in EYFS are currently permitted on site to drop off their children in the morning, all other year groups need to be dropping off at the allocated gate (see below table for guidance). Parents can now visit the school office but this will be on a ‘one in, one out’ basis and parents will need to queue outside. You can of course still contact the school via email/telephone as you have been for the last 18 months. Parents and other family members are not permitted to enter school classrooms, cloakrooms or corridors.

Secondly, dogs are not allowed on site unless they are service dogs. Please can you ensure that if you need to take your dog as part of the school run, that your dog remains on a lead at all times, not tied to the school gates, and is by your side under full control as some children and parents/carers are fearful or anxious around dogs. Thank you very much for your support with this.

Lastly, correct uniform must be worn at all times, the uniform policy can be viewed on our website: https://www.gatehouse.devon.sch.uk/schooluniform/ Please can we request that hair styles are sensible, and long hair is tied up to stop the spread of head lice throughout school.

Thank you again for your continued support and understanding.

    Many thanks,

  • Welcome back message from Mrs Naldrett

    Fri 10 Sep 2021

    Dear parents/carers

I just wanted to send you all a quick note to say how fantastically well the children have come into school this week. Our youngest children in EYFS look super cute in their new school uniforms and the staff in the unit have been so proud of how well they have settled in. Across the rest of the school the older children have adapted very well to the loosening of the Covid restrictions and have been so happy to play with children across their year groups/units during break and lunchtimes. As a staff we have been so impressed by the children's behaviour across the school, we've seen some wonderful manners and, in their learning, they have been listening well and have been eager to participate and impress in all activities.

I also wanted to let you know that we have appointed a new receptionist to our staff team as Mrs Holman resigned from the post during the school holidays, I am pleased to announce that Emily Gray will be joining our team from Monday, Emily is also a parent to 3 pupils at the school. I know you will make her feel very welcome in her new role and will be patient and understanding whilst she learns our processes and procedures.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and we cannot wait to see all the children again next week!

    Best wishes

    Leila Naldrett
