Please submit your consent form by midday 10th November 2023 to ensure your child receives their vaccination. If you experience any problems accessing the form, please telephone 01872 221105 for Cornwall schools and 01392 342678 for Devon schools and the team will be happy to help. Please note that as in previous years you must opt into the programme. If a consent form is not submitted your child will not be vaccinated.

Emergency closure of all schools

 

 

Dear parents and carers,

 

 

You will be aware that there are severe weather warnings in place for tomorrow, 2^nd November 2023. Devon County Council have held an emergency meeting today and we have just been notified that, as a result, all Devon schools will be closing. This is because the current weather warning poses a risk to life and could worsen.

 

Gatehouse Primary Academy will therefore be CLOSED tomorrow, Thursday 2^nd November.

 

Please keep an eye on emails from school which will direct you to some simple home learning activities if you are able to complete them.

Unfortunately, due to an Amber weather warning in place for this Wednesday, Paignton Zoo have informed us that they will be closed to all visitors, including school trips.

Mrs Borbon will be holding a choir club, for children in years 3 - 6, starting this half term. The club will be on a Thursday lunchtime. Please let us know if your child would like to join the choir. 

 

There are various performances booked in over the Christmas period, it would be lovely for children to be able to participate in these.

In previous years, the children have had very successful sailing trips with the Island Trust. However, the Island Trust have lost funding and therefore only have one boat. We have tried to source another boat, however this has been unsuccessful.
We researched alternative residential options for the current year 5 children.
After careful consideration and reviewing the survey we are taking the children to Reach Outdoors. We have booked bell tents at their sole use camping site of Stoke Gabriel Football Club.
The children will be taking part in Coasteering, Archery, Orienteering, Bushcraft, Giant Paddleboard, Wacky Races, Rounders, Danish Longball.
A presentation and meeting will take place next year.

You may have heard in the news recently that some schools are closing due to issues with Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete. 

 

We would like to reassure you that this does not apply to Gatehouse, and we will be open as normal from tomorrow (Wednesday 6th September). We look forward to welcoming you all back to school tomorrow morning.

If your child is currently in EYFS, please be reminded that from year 1 children are required to wear a white school shirt with a tie.

Dear Year 6 Parents,

As we approach the end of the year, we will be asking the children to complete a page of memories from their time at Gatehouse. We hope to include first names, birth months and a photo of the children, along with some memories and special moments from their time at our school. These will be made into booklets for the children to take home. We hope these provide lasting memories of their peers to look back on. If you do not consent to any of the above being included in the Memory Book for your child, please let the school office know, before 9am Wednesday 19^th July.
